Runrunlive podcast research update: Does athletic tape work?

In this week’s update, I give a verbal summary on whether athletic tape that you see on runners and athletes – the brightly colored tape – works to improve recovery or performance. You can also read a verbal report here.

Or you can listen to it here: I’m at the start, right after the intro music:

The runrunlive podcast really is an excellent running information and edutainment resource and has a massive back catalogue. Well worth a listen if you haven’t already tried it.

Weekly research update on the RunRunLive podcast

Chris Russell, who runs the popular US-based RunRunLive podcast suggested that I might want to present a short one minute slot in each of his weekly shows summarizing some health research that I have talked about in my blog. I thought it was a great idea, so here is the first podcast in which my Wellbeing Update is included.

This week, I talk about the benefits of taking up exercise, even if you do so for the first time in midlife. The blogpost that talks about that is right here

Here’s the audio. I start talking at about 1 minute 45 seconds:

We did the podcast last night and it was great fun, though I was a bit jet-lagged. We ended up focusing on three topics:

  • Do statins degrade muscle performance and / or increase perceived pain on exercise?
  • Do you need a multivitamin if you eat a healthy diet?
  • And sudden deaths during marathons – should I be worried?
